Let’s face it – environmentalism has an image problem… it’s not seen as sexy.
Food, well that’s sexy.
Just as well food and what we put on our fork happens to be one of the most significant ways we can make a difference to our environment. We’re currently trashing the planet through the way we consume food; takeaway coffee cups, lettuce in a bag, a raw deal for farmers, double beef pattie burgers… According to the EPA, food is the biggest contributor to our ecological-footprint, at around 30%, so there’s never been a better place to start.
The Give a Fork! campaign is held during April and gets people thinking about the environmental and ethical impact of the food we buy, whilst bringing the sexy back into caring.
#GREXY is that guy you see at your local grocer with the cloth bag swung casually over his shoulder.
#GREXY is the woman in the power suit asking to have her latte-to-go in a keep cup.
#GREXY is asking if the chicken’s free range.
#GREXY could be you…
* grexy /greksi/adj. used to describe a sexy or appealing person who is also a greenie.
The way our food is grown, manufactured and distributed is causing serious damage to our environment, farmers, animals, communities and health. With up to 60% of our personal eco-footprint embodied in the food that we buy, it’s never been more important to educate ourselves and our children about where our food comes from.
We must take action now
Dine out at a participating Give a Fork! restaurant and help us raise funds to build a better food system, simply by tucking into a delish meal. Participating restaurants follow our 4 Golden Food Rules to create a superb meal that’s healthy, fair and good for the planet.
